The Flood of Ideas: Inspiration or Distraction?

Some people struggle to find ideas. Sometimes, I can relate to that. Other times, my mind is pure chaos — a flood of ideas. They rush in without pause, overwhelming my brain and making it hard to focus. Even now, I have no idea how to stop them. They leave my mind restless.

You might think this is a good thing, and in many ways, it is. I’m grateful for it. Whether I’m going about my daily activities or actively searching for inspiration, ideas come to me effortlessly. I don’t have to wait long to be struck by creativity. Even better, I can easily share these ideas with the people around me in a simple, cheerful, and informal way.

But here’s the challenge: I struggle to refine these ideas into a structured, formal form. I don’t know how to filter them. Instead of choosing just one, I often feel the urge to merge everything into a single piece — an approach that rarely works. In the end, I have to make tough choices, selecting a few and leaving the rest untouched.

Still, I’m deeply grateful for this. I believe ideas are always around us — never too far away. Sometimes, all we need is a little boredom to help us see them clearly, capture them, and shape them into something meaningful.

As I wrote that last thought, I had a realization: could my recent flood of ideas be caused by boredom? Or is it because I tend to (automatically) focus on small details rather than the big picture? Whatever the reason, I choose to be grateful for it — chaotic mind and all.
